The Ollie

The ollie is the base trick for all the tricks you will be doing later on. A good way to start practicing is to start off on a thick carpet.

It's a fairly simple trick that shouldn't take you too long to master.

Firstly place your front foot just behind the front bolts at a slight angle.

The Ollie

Your back foot should be on the tail of the board, with your heel hanging off the edge.

The Ollie

Now that you've got the foot placement, get comfortable on the board, and bend your knee's. You do this so that you can get height on your ollie.

The Ollie

What you're going to do now is jump up, and at the same time push down on the tail of your board as hard as you can. Your front foot is going to come up to your body, maintaining contact with the board, just guiding it up.

The Ollie

Once you're at a height you feel comfortable with, you're going to slide your front foot to the nose of the board to level it out. As you're doing this bring your back foot up with the board so that you're completely level in the air.

The Ollie

All that's left to do now is land. To do this push your legs down and straight, land with your feet on the bolts, keep your balance, and ride away.

The Ollie

That's pretty much it. You now have the ollie, so keep practicing it, and when you're comfortable doing it you can start ollieing over obstacles and down ledges and stairs. Just have fun with it.
