FS Fakie Shuv
The Fakie Shuv is a lot like a regular Shuv. Normally a trick is easier in Fakie, but this isn't one of them. This trick is actually way easier riding regular.
So you're going to be setting your feet up like you did for a regular BS Shuv, but again you'll be riding Fakie.

When you're rolling at a comfortable speed, twist your shoulders, and then as you pop release them. Up until now you will have been riding backwards (Fakie), but as you pop the board, scoop it with your foot that isn't doing the popping so that the board starts to rotate. Now you should start reorientating your body so that it's in more of a switch position, rather than a Fakie position. This is going to take some practice and experimenting, but basically you're going make yourself feel like your not riding backwards anymore, and rather you're riding switch.

A good way to get the feeling of each is by doing a Fakie Ollie, and then trying a Switch Ollie, and comparing the feelings when you're in the air. For the shuv you're going to want the Switch Ollie feeling.

So after you've popped the board, started the rotation and changed your body positioning, wait for the board to come around and do the full Shuv, and then you're going to catch it with both feet on the bolts and nail the trick.

The board is going to over rotate the first couple of times, so if this happens don't get mad or decide that you can't do it. You can. Just keep practicing and practice board control. |
