BS Shuv

Now for the BS Shuv. This trick isn’t hard, but it’s a good trick to have, because you can build on it for bigger tricks, and people sometimes think it’s a waste of time to learn shuv’s, so in a game of S.K.A.T.E it can sometimes be an easy way to get ahead.

Ok foot position. You want your front foot just behind the bolts at a slight angle. Your back foot is flat across the whole of the tail, with your toes right at the edge of the board.

Now start riding and set your feet up. Crouch down as usual, and twist your shoulders just like you do for a BS 180.
As you pop the board, scoop it with your back foot, pulling you back foot towards you. Your front foot is basically going to guide the board and stop it from flipping.

Let the board rotate 180 degrees, and when you see it coming around, catch the board with either your front foot or both at once. I find it easier to catch the board with both feet, but a lot of people catch the board with their front foot.

Once you have the board under you, straighten your legs, land on the bolts and ride away smooth.

It might take awhile to get the rotation just right. Sometimes you’ll spin the board too fast, sometimes too slow, so just play around with it, practice and keep on skating.
